You could gift a month free for both invited and invitee if the invited reaches a specific streak.

Not sure about how the community grows rn and if that is a problem, but that would be a nice way to incentivize both to be active on wip

Nice yes I want to give some incentive to inviters as well. Giving free membership is a fun idea.

I also thought about money (e.g. 30% commission on all revenue from anyone you invite), swag (t-shirts, stickers, etc) or some website unlocks (streak fixes, etc)

how would that 30% commision on all revenue work? i don't get it

Let's say you invite someone that subscribes to the $199/year plan. Then you'd earn 30% commission on that $199 = $59.70/year for as long as they stay subscribed.

I'm not sure this is something I want to do as it cuts down into my profit margins a lot, but I do like the idea of having some incentive/reward for referring new members.

ah like an affiliate program. at first i thought the inviter gets the revenue off the invitee's products haha

Haha, that WOULD be a good incentive wouldn't it

the indie hackers version of a pyramid scheme

The site is in French and I don't speak French

Oh! Good point. I added the English translation and here is the link to the platform in English. www.malt.uk/profile/nadarifki

About 3 years ago when i started working solo, I gave it a go working after my SWE job. Failed miserably because the SWE work was too draining and my biz moved too slowly.

Then I tried waking up at 6:00, so that i can work on my business before my job. Eventually I quit my job because I realized that nothing was really stopping me from focusing full time on my business than the fear of 'not making it'. The goal was to be self-sufficient, so might as well pull the band-aid asap.

In other words: I was never able to manage my side projects with a 9-5

Exactly my experience as well. I think it’s “maybe” doable if you have some retirement home level SWE gig at a large company, but if you have a serious engineering job it becomes too draining on your time and attention.

I write the html and preview it in my ide.

then I send it to my self via the app I'm building

if it looks good I ship

I see Twitter as a place to meet cool people irl and have stopped caring for engagement/reach at least for the time being. I made my irl circles from it and i am thankful, but right now i am focusing on building.

I realized you grow on Twitter by achieving stuff outside of twitter, so I don't spend time there to grow my profile. Eventually when everything else is sorted out, I might go back to caring for growing my acc again.

Right now I post unfiltered stuff (shit posting/stuff that come out of my head while building my business) and stuff that I create that my (tech) audience would probably care about (such as libraries, releases, products etc).

It has worked great so far.

I usually ping @marc (the guy behind WIP) via the telegram group and other people chip in if they like the idea.

Seen other people posting a question on the site and pinging him there too.

don't think there's a specific way of doing this

Wait, can you interact in Telegram? I thought it was only a Bot to send todo's.

interesting. if u hadnt told me it was AI i wouldnt have guessed.

A friend has built this: www.helpkit.so/blog/create-a-…

I don't use Notion so I don't know much about it, but I know he loves Notion and his business is on Notion. IIRC he sold some stuff with Notion + Lemonsqueezy as well

Thanks for the suggestion!
Yeah, I found it, too, in the research. It looks fantastic and is a perfect fit for my case.
I'd probably use it if I were sure that I'd get consistent sales in the future (it's a one-time payment guide). Otherwise, $31 / month seems a bit steep for now.

I do sign Ubidrop (Ubidrop.com). I distribute it on my own as I havent uploaded it to the App Store. I can't remember whether the first versions were signed or not. People were excited to use it as is.

I think that as long as you point point to the right direction (say the website) and tell them never to download the app from any other sites, you should be okay. Maybe add a tutorial on how to install the app, because it is a significant friction and measure app first runs vs downloads.

Thanks! I think for simplicity I'll try to get it published to the app store, and use a special link that opens the app store from the website when they click download/purchase.

I'll also try to apply for that 15% discount from Apple.
