Mac OS app? 😮

ah like an affiliate program. at first i thought the inviter gets the revenue off the invitee's products haha

Haha, that WOULD be a good incentive wouldn't it

the indie hackers version of a pyramid scheme

how would that 30% commision on all revenue work? i don't get it

Let's say you invite someone that subscribes to the $199/year plan. Then you'd earn 30% commission on that $199 = $59.70/year for as long as they stay subscribed.

I'm not sure this is something I want to do as it cuts down into my profit margins a lot, but I do like the idea of having some incentive/reward for referring new members.

You could gift a month free for both invited and invitee if the invited reaches a specific streak.

Not sure about how the community grows rn and if that is a problem, but that would be a nice way to incentivize both to be active on wip

Nice yes I want to give some incentive to inviters as well. Giving free membership is a fun idea.

I also thought about money (e.g. 30% commission on all revenue from anyone you invite), swag (t-shirts, stickers, etc) or some website unlocks (streak fixes, etc)

The site is in French and I don't speak French

Oh! Good point. I added the English translation and here is the link to the platform in English. www.malt.uk/profile/nadarifki

About 3 years ago when i started working solo, I gave it a go working after my SWE job. Failed miserably because the SWE work was too draining and my biz moved too slowly.

Then I tried waking up at 6:00, so that i can work on my business before my job. Eventually I quit my job because I realized that nothing was really stopping me from focusing full time on my business than the fear of 'not making it'. The goal was to be self-sufficient, so might as well pull the band-aid asap.

In other words: I was never able to manage my side projects with a 9-5

Exactly my experience as well. I think it’s “maybe” doable if you have some retirement home level SWE gig at a large company, but if you have a serious engineering job it becomes too draining on your time and attention.

I write the html and preview it in my ide.

then I send it to my self via the app I'm building

if it looks good I ship

I see Twitter as a place to meet cool people irl and have stopped caring for engagement/reach at least for the time being. I made my irl circles from it and i am thankful, but right now i am focusing on building.

I realized you grow on Twitter by achieving stuff outside of twitter, so I don't spend time there to grow my profile. Eventually when everything else is sorted out, I might go back to caring for growing my acc again.

Right now I post unfiltered stuff (shit posting/stuff that come out of my head while building my business) and stuff that I create that my (tech) audience would probably care about (such as libraries, releases, products etc).

It has worked great so far.
