💭 thinking about moving several websites off of GitHub Pages and on to CloudFlare Pages to get more control of redirects
got my personal website (nathanwailes.com/, just an index.html) working on a new $4/mo DO droplet that I intend to move everything over to while switching backends from Python to Go, nginx is way easier than Apache so far. Switched my personal site to use GitHub version control.
🤔 debating moving most of my GitHub Pages projects to a dedicated DO slice after reading jvns.ca/blog/2022/01/24/hosti…

🚜 moved djangopony.com to GitHub Pages, Jekyll, and Cloudflare #mylife
Moved hosting from Netlify to Cloudflare Pages to prevent $100K bill shock – made minor copy edits to test auto deploy on CF. #listskit
Deploy my personal website via GitHub Actions + Cloudflare Pages, goodbye Netlify #life
Alright, posts moved to the Ghost blog by hand (it was easy, Ghost seems pretty simple).
And as my old blog was hosted in github I've done the redirections using cloudflare and everything is working smoothly 🤗 #remotemontes
Blog Post on my super cheap Heroku + CloudFront setup
Got my personal website (nathanwailes.com) being served by Netlify after destroying the Digital Ocean droplet that was hosting it (just an index.html file)...got the welcome YouTube video working again, I guess YouTube requires some new iframe attrs now before it'll allow it to be played...bought a new domain (wailesgroup.com) for $10 and set it up on Netlify with a copy of my nw.com domain, I'm thinking of trying to start doing cold-emailing to get work as an agency / remote-worker management consultancy b/c I think the current agency I'm working for is billing my time at a way higher rate than I'm getting paid...spent a few minutes thinking about and adding Jira tickets for what I should work on next for that project (not today)...spent some time studying the [hnjobs GitHub repo][1] to see how it worked, to use it as a stepping stone towards automating applying to HN jobs...spent some more time thinking about trying to do interviews with YouTubers, I'm now thinking it may not be so useful, as I don't have a product I'm trying to sell right now, it's unlikely to have any lasting impact, and it would probably be a one-time thing... built up a proxy for one of my websites to fall back on a static copy (using Jekyll to start) so that I don't break any pages or anything that won't be obvious.
switch to Netlify until GitHub sorts its life out (GitHub Pages 👎) #codewithhugo
🤩 nextjs + github action + droplet + cloudflare
begin work on wiring up the web; make public repo; switched from do back to github; added cloudflare; waiting to it to prop #dailyvibes
🚚 setup #deploy domain to point to Cloudflare in case I decide to release it
upload my shit to boxspinner.com while waiting for Heroku to fix my billing so I can pay for SSL and speed
👨💻 cloudflare + droplet set up
🚜 I fixed/updated DNS on a few domains since GitHub has changed how they setup them up now. It's quite a bit better, IMO but took effort to fix and migrate a few websites. #mylife
