I think it helps to be around to be around for the first 1-2 hours to see how it's doing, making sure nothing breaks and answer all comments and questions.

If you post on a weekday I saw a big peak just before work (7-9 AM) and then it picks up around 9PM again so try to be around during these times.

That being said, I was #1 on PH and Show HN and went to sleep and everything went fine. I did sleep 2x3 hours so I could reply to everyone that left a comment the 3 hours before that

This was on PH a few days ago: namelix.com
Generates short, brandable names with AI based on keywords you put in. Checks if the .com is available too. You might find a good name there

A twitter app with a clean, chronological timeline. No 'person X liked this', no Ads, no 'You may have missed this'.

Try Tweetbot, it does exactly what you want in a Twitter client.

start emailing social media managers. Freelancers, in-house, agency doesn't matter. Get them to use a simple MVP and improve with their feedback. you can also find communities where they hang out: subreddit, FB group, slack channel etc. and ask there.

Social media managers... That's a great idea

I think it defeats the purpose of a 'streak' but on the other hand, there are so many people just marking things as /done without shipping anything just to keep their streak going. I'd like to see todos be higher quality (Joel suggested some ideas to do this).

Another idea could be to give every account a 'shipping balance'. If you ship, you get +1 on your balance. If you don't ship, you get -1 or stay at that balance. If you miss one day of shipping it isn't such a big deal because you don't have to start your XX or XXX-day streak from zero again (which can literally take months).

Or, just reset the leaderboard every month/quarter. This decreases the motivation to 'cheat' the streak and people who have only recently joined WIP also get a chance to be in the top 15.

Taken from The Miracle Morning by Hal Elrod, I use habit stacking. Habit stacking simply means you pick a few habits that you want to practice, make a sequence out of them and then make the sequence itself a new habit. The benefit of habit stacking is that you can adopt multiple good habits at once, because you automate your behavior to do the entire sequence, which takes less motivation than practicing multiple individual habits.

The first hour after waking up, I keep my phone on airplane mode and go through the entire sequence. Which is currently: have breakfast, 10-15 min of stretching, read one chapter, write down the 3 things I want to accomplish that day and then I go to the gym.

I found that when I tried to do these things during the day I procrastinated on doing them but now it's much easier. You can of course make your own sequence with things you want to do (go for a walk, learn a new language, meditate etc.)

Not in question form but would like to see this on a maker profile: a short bio, tech stack they are using, link to their social media/blog, an overview of their projects (past and present) and maybe current location?
