Question
Is this a good idea?
[US Elections badges made using ProfilePicture.app]
Quick sanity check guys..
Yay or nay? Feels risky but might help with distribution for ProfilePicture.app But don't want to break any laws or go to jail ! 😅
Any US folks here to weigh in?
[UPDATE:] On second thoughts, I probably should avoid this. Don't want to get sucked into that toxic bubble of identity politics!

I think social media is polarizing af already without this. It's just more identity politics, which I'm pretty firmly against, though. Let's be real: all politicians suck, and I wouldn't want someone to judge me with zero prior knowledge of me based on a badge.
I'd say skip, but others might disagree.
If you're only worried about legalities, I think it's legal.
Legal? Probably.
A good decision? No lol
If you want to do a distribution campaign for it, I'd go with something for indies or freelancers. WAY more fun without people getting ragey, and it could lead to people getting more clients/sales (always a good thing if people associate your product with them getting more money).
Good points Cat! Yeah i think that's what made me pause for sanity check. X is polarizing enough. I'm also not keen on getting involved in anything politics there
Yeah, definitely not lol. Plus, you'd align your product with politics, which isn't a good idea either.
I'd focus more on indies, freelancers, and even causes (like if people wanted to create their own for their organization, nonprofit).
I'd say what would be REALLY good for right now would be something about disaster relief for the hurricanes in Florida. Something like "needs aid" or "is willing to help" or something similar. That way people can find each other and it can bring together a community.
(Unity vs divisiveness)
OH I LOVE THAT! 🤯
Always more into social causes anyway. Will do that! Thanks Cat!
i feel the tension.. what about just a generic i voted? they sent me this in the mail.
That's a good generic! Not polarizing.
We both were thinking of the same idea but you launched it first :-)
Congratulations!
Thanks! Don't let me stop you though. I wasn't the first to launch this, and won't be the last ;)
Don't want to hijack your post but just sharing what we have → www.draftly.so/linkedin-profi…
Its a part of the series of micro tools we are creating.
Cool. Makes perfect sense for a LinkedIn scheduler
yes do it. could go viral, and it's not illegal
Thanks Brian! I decided not to go for it in the end.. didn't want to get sucked into that (toxic) side of twitter!
I know you decided not to go for it, but I liked the "I voted" generic variant. Would it be too on the nose to do that in purple?
Here you go Nik!
Hahaha our elections were a few months ago already :)
