Reccomendations on CRM especially simple ones

I've looked at lots of CRM over the years and so many of them seem to be either a) overly complex and/or b) lock me in to their system (everything is ingested into their backend).

Is there any kind of super simple CRM or even a CRM API where e.g. i can just bcc an address or every email i want to track and it auto organizes ...

I've used Close.io in the past which wasn't overly complex, but perhaps still more complex than you'd like.

I'm also aware of Less Annoying CRM which positions itself as being simple, but I haven't used it.

The CRM from Chartmogul seems simple enough, chartmogul.com/crm/
It has multiple options to ingest date and integrate with multiple destinations.

Have not been using it too much though

I've used HubSpot Free, and it seemed fine and not too complex, but you have probably have tried it already.

I'm curious, what option do you envision for not ingesting data into their backend? I was under impression that's the point of a CRM?

(I'm not using a CRM as my sales are mostly inbound. But maybe I should...)

Maybe not simple? Loved Attio so far for specifically going through my whole inbox and scaffolding up all of my records from over the years. Overkill maybe though.
