I think the customer.io UX is the best in the business so I find the learning curve to be quite low.
How do you use Zapier to apply a tag dynamically based on the survey response? E.g. if the respondent responds with answer choice C for a multiple choice question, how do you tag them with "C"? I can't find a way to dynamically set this (instead of just always setting C every time the zap fires, with C just being hardcoded in).
TBH I avoided using multi-select field for my personal business on Zapier since it giving me headache like the case you mentioned lol.
But for some clients, I use Make.com for that case. The way It work is kinda painful though. Here how I set it up.
I received a response from multi-select field, Let say the field called "interest" and user fill in option A and B.
It depend on the form you use, Some you will got Array value > you will need to use text aggregator to turn it into String [A,B]. If it Jotform, it give you string value so you don't need to do anything further.
Back to Convertkit, Instead of using tag, I use custom field. I created a custom field called "interest_fillout" then use make.com to add string A,B into the custom field.
Set up automation in Convertkit ( the visual one ), set up When custom field contain A > Add tag A, When contain B > Add Tag B
I find it easier to work with complex stuff on Make.com. I only use Zapier when I want to finish things quickly without headache.
Thanks so much, makes a lot of sense. A headache whatever way you approach it 😂
I'm currently using Convertkit and find it very limiting / frustrating. In particular, the Zapier integration is terrible. I'm also using Mailersend for transactional emails and absolutely hate it. So buggy.
I'm not in a rush but soon I'd like to switch to either: bentonow, or customer.io. I've used customer.io for years in the past and absolutely love it, but it's the most expensive option. Bentonow might be a cheaper alternative.
I used Mailersend for transactional email as well. It is indeed buggy. Customer.io I never try it but it seem like an enterprise solutions. What do you think about learning curve of it ? Do you find it easy to get start.
In Convertkit I use Typeform + Zapier to survey and apply tag to my subscriber. If my workflow going to be more complex, this can be very tiring.

Actually now that I am re-remembering, I believe the core issue is that Webflow does not allow you to embed rich text from their CMS into a JSON object, they only give you access to plaintext fields when using their custom code feature.
Might be able to kill two birds with one stone using my feed. I have one API with just text descriptions + searching on fractional I currently get 8 hits.
Your volume would be very low so you can simply use the free plan:

I'm hoping to add a Linkedin feed in a couple of weeks as well which might help you with more jobs!
Sorry for delay Remco. Appreciate this. Do you have experience using rich text for the description? I was under the impression it had to be plaintext only. Trying to find out more about this but not finding much.
Re: newsletter. All the jobs are linked to from the newsletter, we feature about 10 - 15 per week, and the actual job board on the site is launching in the next week or two.
I'd be interested in learning more about fantastic jobs too, my current data feed is pretty crappy.
While we're on this topic, I'm looking for recommendations on a tangential issue. I run fractionaljobs.io for context.
My app is built in webflow. AFAIK for the Google Jobs API, we need to send the description
as a plaintext field. Except, in our Webflow CMS it's a rich text field.
How might I be able to convert this richtext field into plaintext in order include it in the JSON-LB blob for Google?
The only idea I've come up with is creating a duplicate (plaintext) description field in Webflow CMS and copy/pasting the rich text into it every time there is an update. But this sounds terrible.
Google will accept a rich description so no need to worry about that. Where are your jobs on fractionaljobs.io? I thought it was just a newsletter

Yes 4dayweek is definitely an inspiration. Phil's done a great job!
Email signups I think(?) are great, I'm at 1,600 in the first 4 weeks. I don't really have anything to compare this to though, so no idea. The email open/click rate is 80%/25% though, which seems insanely high.
I'm the founder of fractionaljobs.io and wrestling with all these questions myself too. Launched 4 weeks ago.
If any other job board owners out there want to jam together, feel free to reach out. I have a lot to learn.
You're position 7 for "Fractional Jobs" which is pretty good for a new job board.
I like that you're going email first, but I do have to say I was a bit confused that there's no actual job board.
I think you just have to hope that search volume increases and I can see it succeed. If I was you I would look at what 4dayweek.io/, especially all the little details that you don't see on other job boards in the right sidebar for each job. What could those be for you?
How's the email sign-ups going?
