@martindonadieu Not sure I understand. Thanks.io isn't my service, just a good service I use to send postcards. I'm happy to answer any questions if I can.

I like the current hardcore streak. I did try many time to learn consistency and WIP helped a lot. But I agree hardcore is hardcore, and force us to have #life tag for exemple.
I think it should be like video games you can configure in your settings what kind of game you want and have the choice between (hardcore/normal/soft streaks.
Hardcore : same as today
Normal: win streak credit every 5 days, consume streak credit when no log, max 30 credit stored, if no credit loose all
Soft: win 1 each day you log, loose 1 each day you forgot
Then we have a badge near us if we are hardcore , normal or soft. And our account show us the streak of everyone according to our setting.
A bit of more work for you @marc but I truly believe in using the video game paradigm
Yes, has having a user-defined difficulty level might be the way to go.
The main drawback is that it introduces conceptual complexity. It makes it harder for new members to understand what a streak is, how to get one, etc.
The credits where you can miss a day (or "streak freezes" as Duolingo calls them) raise some additional questions like how many do you get, how often can you use them, etc.
I might settle on having two streak systems. The current hardcore one (lose a day and it resets), and the more forgiving one (skip a day and it decreases by 1).
definitely good to have a reminder of what i did today and be able to post it by rewriting it :)
i agree totally my proposal was to complex after read it again.
your approach seems more doable, and inspired by a model who already work Dribbble
To me, don't change the price. :)
allow us to do affiliate with discount.
Like 25% discount + 25% shared revenue for the person who invited.
having the right of 4 invitations total
each time invite is granted and person start to pay a 25% is deduce from your own subscription.
and you get back your invit slot
after 4 paying you don't pay anymore.
but you can continue to invite people with discount 25 or 50( you choose)
each time one person we invited cancel sub we loose one invit slot and have to pay again.
the paying filter is important, please keep it.
it's good for both side.
that motivated me to commit more into making
I like the idea of rewarding members for bringing in more people, but I'm not sure the economics of a $20/mo subscription will allow us to offer an incentive significant enough to get people to actively start inviting more members.
I think the key incentive for people to invite cool makers is that it helps improve their own experience of WIP. However, right now that's complicated by the fact that those cool makers need to get over that $20/mo hurdle first.
Hence the idea to offer a free (but invite-only!) membership.
If there was a stripped-down free version, in addition to the current paid membership, would you downgrade? If not, do you think it would negatively effect that motiviation you mention?

You look to search super far you idea dude! Of course it can be interesting, but it come with a ton of potential downfall.
If your are not already in this field i would say don't do that.
There are a ton of unsexy idea around you, who can make good money and not too hard to make.
Ask people around you what they struggle the most in they life, if you see something they tried to fix but they can't find the right solution, go deeper,.
Are you able to make one solution easily ?
Are other people in same situation ?
Are they have try to paid already ?
If you found 3 yes problem you have a golden one.
@marc do you know about this ?
Hi yes. Been meaning to reply. The current way is like you do. Create the todo on the homepage and then check the checkbox.
I agree it's a bit annoying and counter intuitive. The vast majority of todos on WIP are immediately completed and never in a pending state. So I will change it such that the checkbox is already visible when creating the todo + automaticlaly check if by default for you.
