Ya'll are using Upwork a lot and I'm not sure how to use the platform the right way. zero responses from folks there, dozens of proposals sent out.

Well to annoy is to request attention beyond an acceptable threshold. So doing that but a little bit of that I think is good in that context. Maybe don’t comment on everything. But try to leave value or be friendly in as many interactions as you can.

I'd say Comment. Be helpful and curious. Perhaps a little annoying. Post your progress then continue helping others. That's my suggestion.

Partial payment is a fantastic feature. I really wish that Cushion offered that.

I use Cushionapp to estimate, track, and invoice my clients. It has a handy invoice feature that will send a nice looking invoice straight to their email. It's also integrated with stripe so that I could accept payments for an invoice right on the web. About half of my clients pay that way, the other half pay use wire transfer straight to my bank account. I include banking information with every invoice to make things easy.

In the past I've Billed every two weeks or twice monthly, but I've switched to weekly billing and it's improved client responses and payments a lot!

I can do it, for free, (but just this once) I'm going to do productized consulting focusing on indie developers, side projects, and very early startups and this would be a great trial run to hammer out how it should work.
