Best tool for affiliate system? Or build it yourself?
I looked at tools like Rewardful. They just take care of tracking. They just manage stuff like plan changes (downgrade or upgrade), cancellation, refunds.
And they connect to other systems for the payouts. But you are still responsible for this yourself.
To be honest I don’t know if these types of tools are really worth it in that case if you are able to track these things through code yourself.
I am looking into ads at the moment and it seems like I’ll probably need to set up similar tracking on my end for ads anyway, to associate it with conversion.
So this has me wondering: am I just missing something here? It doesn’t seem like these tools offer a lot for the price they charge.

I'm using PromoteKit for
#watchdog with no issues on their free tier (3 referrals max)
I've also seen people using Reflio - free tier where they take a cut of your referrals. I'll likely move over there once I hit the 3 referral limit from PromoteKit. Heard mixed reviews about them however.
Both of them support auto payouts to affiliates afaik.

I signed up for Reflio a few months ago and after being acquired it seems to be abandoned now and no one answers through any channel.
My issue with Rewardful is it's a bit expensive especially if you're just starting out.
Take a look at Affonso, they have complete conversion tracking. Very affordable for indies, starts at $7.50/month.
Their $49 one-time price seems like a good deal for indies. Thanks for sharing this!
I just signed with Rewardful, not really started. I'm not sure of that: the affiliate don't care of the platform, or Rewardful is also a platform to recruit affiliates ?
