That is a big group! I never started a meetup to start a company or business around it. It was more like, I want to learn more about this, let's see if other people are out there. I wonder how digital nomads are dealing with all the travel restrictions these days. Do they stay at places more long term and wait for things to clear up? A friend of mine is on the move and he tends to go to places he thinks are safer and less restricted.

Awesome! I will have a look at the channel tomorrow. Would be nice to do an open room a certain time a day (09:00-10:00). Could become a feature, as in part of the streak and maybe motivates people to keep each other accountable.

I haven't organized one yet, so not sure if it works. But I can understand it becomes hard to manage. I will try some, purely for motivational purposes and have some social interaction :)

I like this tactic! I used to start random meetup groups, just to see if people sign up. Actually, I still have a group with 40-something signups (www.meetup.com/Barcelona-Euro…) and never ever organized anything for it. Maybe you can try to start a conversation with them? Or organize some sort of event to start to create community and discover what they are looking for?

haha that’s cool!

I actually have done something similar on LinkedIn. There’s this group I created and it’s called “Digital Nomads Around The World” www.linkedin.com/groups/84784….

I created it a while ago and without any promotion there are currently 925 people inside. I still don’t know what to do with the group though.

And, just to clarify... on the Substack publication for Studiolist I had published stuff (on a weekly basis) so it’s not only a placeholder.

Maybe you can try to start a conversation with them? Or organize some sort of event to start to create community and discover what they are looking for?

Yep. That’s a good idea, and it’s probably the direction I’ll be taking.

Approaching the people who signed up seems to be the bottom line of what you and the other WIP folks that generously shared their feedback here recommend.

Thanks Adriaan 🙏 😊

What I would really like to see, is a daily micro zoom session/standup. Happy to help with this! I am trying to setup something like this, but I care more about a collective effort than my own. www.meetup.com/daily-standup/…

I've tried something like this, and it turned out that zoom sessions don't work quite well because they are synchronous – calls are hard to schedule, meetings take a lot of time, members start missing group sessions which increases the chance for the group to fall apart very quickly. What was your experience so far?

I haven't organized one yet, so not sure if it works. But I can understand it becomes hard to manage. I will try some, purely for motivational purposes and have some social interaction :)

Personally I'm really bad at scheduling. I like to keep my calendar as empty as possible.

But I do like the idea of video calls. Whether scheduled or ad-hoc. I've created a Whereby channel I want to experiment a bit with in the future.

You can find it here: wip.whereby.com/general

If you know any other members who might be interested feel free to start using it and let me now how it goes. I'll probably jump in myself this coming week and share it in the Telegram group. If people find it valuable I'll also start promoting it on the website.

How about async video threads? Record stand-ups, weekly goals, reply to other members when you have a minute. We all are busy people living in different time zones.

I haven't read the whole topic, since it is Friday and I had too many beers. I struggle with the planning of my list. I like the 'ship it fast' mindset, but I also like to not get peer-pressured into a burnout. On the other side, I like the community aspect and having some 'high profile' people hanging around. Really would like to see this project succeed and to not become another toxic echo-chamber, which most platforms become at the end. Lot's of possibilities and love the idea! Could become more inclusive and less hipster.

TLDR: use open source..

Someone read this book? "Finite vs. infinite games", by James P. Carse? I haven't read it but think I understand it a bit. It is about zero-sum games and kind of relates to the world we live in right now. We create these games and try to out compete each other. While, if we work together...stuff really gets interesting. Maybe 'the great reset' will help with the destruction of this mindset. Not sure if I would like it...but we need a healthier GAME.

That is one of the reasons why I am here. Learn from the best!

Last book I read was 'COVID-19: The Great Reset by Klaus Schwab'. Interesting macro/meta shizzle that is going on. For example, large job loss by automation/AI was expected to take place in 10 years. Because of the pandemic, lot of investor money is going into AI/automation and now we are talking about 5 year span.Going to see some fireworks and IMF is calling for Bretton Woods moment...probably a crypto/UBI to bail out the people and implement some social credit. Data is the new oil...

Hola, like the idea! But not exactly sure for who it is and what it is about. Maybe add some more examples or user-stories? Is it for writes, designers and also tech people?

I think the different sections with imagery, fonts and process could be more unified. It seems there is no correlation between size and importance. For example, "Collaborate. Communicate. Create." could be much bigger font. The super large image of the girl reading and much smaller image below of the guy typing and process images are or too small or big and should have kind unity in size?

Maybe go more condensed and add a main container with a fixed width, instead of going fully fluid?

Interesting idea!

Thanks Adriaan! I'm seeing a theme with these responses which is really great. I can work with consistent feedback!
