If youâre looking for a local provider IMO thatâs Dialog, specially if youâre travelling around, cos theyâve got the best coverage + value for money. Mobitel is another good one from a coverage perspective. Wouldnât really touch the others cos coverage becomes pretty sus once youâre out of the major metro areas.
Are you planning a visit? I live here so let me know if you have any questions, more than happy to help in whichever way I can!
Cool site! They donât list any local providers, so for anyone looking at this thread down the line, you can get a 25GB data pack on Dialog for around $5. You generally can get a SIM at the airport, and as usual the airport pricing is much higher than within the country, so load up on your data at any super market when youâre out of the airport
I used to do this about 10 years ago but with eSIMs itâs about 50x more convenient to buy online before you get there
It might be a couple bucks extra (or not) but you save time navigating to whatever SIM card store, you get internet access immediately instead of an hour after arrival, etc
Saw that your friend already got Saily. But if he/she has a Revolut account, there's a nice global eSim option too. I'm on their Ultra plan with 3GB monthly global data allowance. Just checked and Sri Lanka is included! Used that eSim in Japan this year, worked great

For some reason, the description didn't get stored. It's for a good friend of mine who is travelling there for 3 weeks and needs internet access.
Oh very cool! The providers Iâve listed above is the best for data too, and you get around 25GB for $5 data pack
Check out GlobalYo, they cover many countries and have decent data plans
Thanks Hugo!
I think I've posted this before but I usually just compare offers on eSIMdb: esimdb.com/sri-lanka
Never had an issue simply going with the cheapest option each time
Thanks a lot Ben, cool website! He purchased on Saily

Makes a ton of sense!
