Roast my Intro/Explainer Video

Hi All,

I made an explainer video for the app that I have been building. I did not have the money to outsource this so did it myself.

What do you think?

Hey Singh, first of all I love that you recorded it yourself. So many people use voice actors these days, but they completely lack personality. I'd lean into this even more, by quickly introducing yourself at the beginning of the video "Hello I'm Singh, creator of Trici."

As for the rest of the video, I'm super impatient so if it wasn't a roast I'd stopped the video after the first 5 seconds. The reason being that I don't want to be told about a product. I want to see it. And you don't show the app until almost a minute into the video. By that time I'm long gone.

So I'd ditch the stock videos and just jump straight into the app. Maybe give it more of a screencast feel showing your face in a circle and your computer desktop.

Personally I find that much more appealing than advertisement-like video. I bet it's the same for your target audience (developers).

Overall though good first start and maybe sufficient for your needs right now. But if you plan on making more videos, those are some things I'd consider.

Marc - This is great feedback. Putting myself in my audiences shoes is something I need to work on myself.

Singh - I feel You are circling an interesting pain point. The first shot of the video really resinated: I had my daughter in my arms as I was watching :)

I agree with Marc, I did just want to see it in action after 5 seconds and felt a little twitch to just change tabs and let it play in the background.

If you are interested in making the product demo Marc suggested, I have used Loom in the past for this.

Nice Job, looking forward to an update!
