Question
Best town in the South of Portugal for winter?
Hey folks, I am not sure if it's the right place to ask, but I plan to go to the Algarve (to escape the Dutch gray winter) in Jan/Feb.
Does anyone know the region well? I don't need much, just a lovely town to stay and do focus work. I am going by car, so I don't care about the close airport.
I am not even necessarily looking into the nomad crowd, but it would be a bonus. Surfing would be another bonus. Both are not required.
Also, something without parties/tourist crowds.
I would appreciate any recommendations!

I've actually never been but some of my friends seem to go to Lagos (Portugal) for this - they surf and work remotely there. Might be worth checking out!
I think one of my friends worked here : bananasurfhouselagos.com and / or here algarvewatersport.com/en/lago…
Yeah I’m Portuguese and I’d recommend this
Algarve is a great choice for winter. I’ve spent some time in Portimão and really enjoyed it, planning to head back this October. It’s close to beautiful cities, has nice beaches, affordable rent prices, and nice surfing spots around. It can be a touristy place, but it's pretty quiet during the off-season in late autumn and winter.
Lagos is also a very nice place, and Sagres area is great if you’re into surfing
Thank you @augis for the tip! I finally booked an Airbnb, eventually settled on Portimao to. Will be there for Jan-Feb.
That's nice, glad I could help. You'll love this place!
Now I'm in Portimao until winter, it's nice to be back here
Hey Dmitrii, I am a purebreed Algarvian. If you are into surfing or a more relaxed vibe, I'd choose Lagos, near the west coast, but still a city with some nightlife. If you are more into some high-class vibes, I'd pick Vilamoura. Let me know if any of these sounds interesting.
