For easy video cutting and editing Sony Vegas Pro. Also as @pugson suggested Premiere is great, a bit more advanced with more options.

If you look to mix video with animation, go for Adobe After Effects and combine it with one of the scrips from AESweets: http://www.aesweets.com

Those will save you tons of time and are pretty easy to learn.
