What service should I use for Operational Bots? Discord, Telegram or Whatsapp?

I've always hated Discord but recently it has improved so much with regards to UX. Telegram and WhatsApp could never compete with it wrt threading and community feeling.

The question is, is Discord's bot capabilities as extensive as Telegram / WhatsApp?

Feedback welcome, thank you all.

What kind of bot are you trying to make exactly? Discord has a good API in general and it's very possible to make a bot for a community

@ben I was going to use a chat as my go-to operations alerting suite. I've used all of the other alerting tools, DataDog, Dynatrace, New Relic, etc. They all have their pros and cons but in the end, I always found myself automating alerting and monitoring into chat messages on Slack.

I was going to replace Slack with one of these, and I thought I'd pick the same one for my communit(y)(ies).

From what I see, Discord lacks the vast suite of integrations, but with a webhook I should be able to do most things anyway... (most integrations are webhooks under the hood anyway).

@ben I saw you're using Discord for simpleotp.com/#pricing-scroll… - I guess I'll give it a try.

Thank you for answering.

Yeah I like discord and use the same approach you mentioned (set up webhooks instead of depending on integrations)
