Question
Neighbourhoods in Phuket?
Hey all,
Finally, I am making my move and some people here were influential in the final decision to go to Phuket / Thailand first.
Which neighbourhoods should I look at, if these are my requirements:

Which neighbourhoods should I look at, if these are my requirements:
a) Avoid flooding. Last year in September Phuket had some flooding. Which areas are best to live in to avoid this to be a problem?
b) Avoid noise (as much as possible). I'm a quiet person, I prefer solitude and greenery, early mornings and going to bed early as well (like 8-9 PM). I want to be as far away from parties and tourists as possible, while still being in Phuket.
c) Ideally walking distance to Tiger Muay Thai gym.

I'm glad you made that decision! Life is too short to stay in one place for too long. 🙌
Thank you buddy, hopefully you join at some point!
Definitely would love to! I've never been anywhere in the East. Think about documenting your journey on a blog. I'm your first reader if you decide!
If you want to be at walking distance from a place, why ask where to stay? What are you looking for in Phuket? I'd say, you should stay north of the airport. Beautiful beach, very quiet.
I think Phuket is not the best place in Thailand, and it doesn't even have Thai vibes. So make sure you don't judge the country based on this touristic island.
But it has one of the most beautiful seas, so I recommend snorkeling.
If you want to be within walking distance from Tiger Muay Thai, you have already decided where you will live.
I lived in Chalong (close to the pier), which was nice. But I drive a scooter, so the distance wasn't an issue because you need to drive to the beach from there.
Patong – Very touristy, lots of nightlife.
Kata – Beautiful beaches, lots of restaurants and hotels.
Karon – Quieter, great for families and couples.
Kalim – For surfers!
Bang Tao – All inclusive luxury resorts.
Surin – Nice beach, quiet, upper end hotels.
Kamala – Very relaxed area, great for those wanting to avoid crowds.
Mai Khao – Very secluded, several luxury resorts.
Rawai – Opposite end of the island, more local, popular with long term stayers.
Phuket Old Town – Main town centre of Phuket, very local area, not popular with tourists.
Rawai seemed to be what Reddit suggested as well.
