I started working with https://app.ahrefs.com .
KD stands for "Keyword Difficulty" and represents an estimation of how hard it would be to rank on the 1st page of Google.

A real quick google search tells you that it's for cached values that haven't been refreshed in a while.

Gray and black are the same thing. In light mode it probably is gray instead of black

It's not black, but a dark theme color, I guess. I'm on light mode and don't see this. Only the colored items represent KD. Darker means more difficult.
