I hear you on the applicants being a rather homogenous group. To some extent, that's the nature of a niche community (attracting similar people), but I agree it's both refreshing and valuable to see a variety of people working on different types of projects in their own ways.

1) Are there any specific alternatives to Twitter you recommend I could add support for?

The reason I like Twitter is that the way many people use it, it gives you a decent insight in what type of person they are and thus whether they'd be a good fit. Are there other platforms with a similar characteristic?

2) What type of search / filtering would be useful?

To be honest, I do wonder to what extent I want to invest in developing the applicant functionality. Because it seems barely used and most new members tend to come in via referrals instead. Which might be a more natural way to grow the community and vet new members anyway.

I'm thinking of ways to further incentivize this. Like allowing you to connect your social media profiles and inviting your existing contacts with a single click. But to your point, perhaps we should support more than just Twitter for this. So here too I'm curious what other platforms you think would be a good addition?

Thanks for your input as always!
