I just buy a local SIM wherever I go. But I didn't solve the part of getting the authentication SMS from my main SIM card when travelling, for example, when trying to access the bank or stuff like that that requires a validation code that they send it to your mobile phone number šŸ¤”

If your carrier back home supports WiFi calling, turn that on and you'll be able to get texts too on your home number. Also make sure "voice over LTE" / "VoLTE" is enabled, which it should be by default.

My setup is:
- Cheap $7/month unlimited texting+calling+1gb data plan from my home carrier, supports WiFi calling
- eSIM wherever I go for international data

Interesting… I will take a look at that functionality.

voice over LTE" / "VoLTE - This should be enabled in my phone settings?

Thanks for the reply. It's really helpful šŸ™

Yes, it should already be enabled. If not, enable it.

Really you should just need to turn on WiFi Calling and then you're set.

Receiving SMS texts is free I think. Double check with your provider. So if your phone supports dual sim cards (all recent iPhones do), then you can keep your home SIM active. Just make sure you disable roaming (so it won't try to connect to the internet) and don't pick up any calls (as it will probably cost you money).

Does it work even if the country is not listed in the provider's roaming supported countries list? I tried in the past, and they told me no, we don't work in that country (Indonesia). Maybe I just need to change of provider šŸ˜‚
