Someonr living in Thailand permanently? Also in rest of SEA🤸🙏🏻

I want to explore the possibility to move my base to Thailand and I want to know some experience in long term there. I just stay as a digital nomad for a few months. Also in the rest of SEA 😊👀🗺️

There are a few of us living in Thailand - anything specific you’re interested in?

Bangkok (where I live) is great if you like large cities, Chiang Mai if you like medium sized cities with access to the mountains, Pai if you like small hippie towns. Lots of interesting islands if you like island life with Koh Tao for diving and many other options. All relatively inexpensive and great places to live.

I thinking to move to Thailand and I want to know how you’re looking for a long term rent. I was living for a 2 month aprox in Bangkok and Chiang Mai (i loved bangkok a lot) but in Airbnb the rent was expensive.
I want a base in Bangkok probablely and visit different places as krabi and so on.

Yeah, for Bangkok especially you shouldn't do Airbnb for long term -- for long term I recommend finding apartments on sites like FazWaz, PropertyHub, etc. Then (very important to avoid getting ripped off) just show up to the buildings you're interested in in person and tell the person at the front desk "Do you have any condos for rent? Could you put me in contact with owners looking to rent their condos?"

Always push to get in contact with an owner directly because agents will take a commission, so the owner will be less willing to negotiate the rent that way.

Sometimes though, the building will require you to work with an agent, and in that case just use the agent recommended by the building -- at least then you know it isn't a scam.

In general, you should expect to pay (for a 1 bedroom condo in a new building with a nice view and amenities):
- ~$900-1000 USD/mo for city center (Phrom Phong, Chit Lom, Phloen Chit, etc) next to a BTS stop
- ~$500-600 USD/mo for slightly outside the city but still convenient (Ekkamai, Phra Khanong, On Nut)

And you can find plenty of stuff around ~$250 USD/mo if you don't care about being in a new building or don't mind being a little farther out

Wow amazing and useful info! Thank you much 🥰

No problem, I'm going to charge for this kind of information (and other info) in my course leavetheus.com but I felt like leaving some free info since you asked nicely

I like Phangan, Phuket, Pai and Bangkok. Something for everyone.

Good memories in Pai. I went there on my first ever solo trip in 2014 and learned how to ride a motorcycle there. Very chill place, one of those magnetic backpacker/hippie ghettos you get sucked into -- I could have easily stayed for multiple years haha
