Job board trademark claim
Hi everyone 👋
A client of
#jobboardsearch
, flexi-jobs.uk had a trademark claim from flexjobs.com,.they are asking to take it down iba week or going to do a formal legal claim.
I have no idea how trademarks works, the fact that one is flex the other is Flexi and only showing jobs from the UK is not enough to win?
Would love to hear what you think :)
Thanks, Rod.

Same industry can be a problem. Not a lawyer but I think the brand that came earlier has more power
Thanks Diogo
Also not a lawyer, but it sounds like bullying tactics.
Thanks Carl
sounds like BS, especially if they arent targeting the same market etc
not a lawyer but I think lots of people use "flex jobs" as a term. like its a dictionary term.
found these in 1min
www.flex-jobs.nl/
www.apicsflexjobs.nl/
jobs.craftflexcare.nl/
Thanks Paul, I have the same thinking like yours. The thing is that they are using a job board platform that also host it, Flexjobs not only threatened the job board but also the platform and all websites under the same IP. The platform is hosted on AWS, they received a formal claim by AWS. Now the platform gave the job board 1 week to migrate to other domain or they will shut it down. Crazy!
platform risk i guess
Double, the job board platform and AWS
I had a friend who had a German .de domain.
A company wrote to him that they own the brand and the .com domain, and they would claim the .de domain with lawyers against him.
He changed the domain to a different provider and wrote to the company, "Sorry I sold it."
After years, he checked his inbox and the company was begging to buy it from him.
He sold it for good money back then.
Cool story!
Hahha yeah that dude, tricked the system always.
I think you have to present in your trademark register the assets that belong to the patent, brand, logo, website, etc.
The problem is that these guys reached out to AWS, AWS reached out to the job board SaaS and threatened to take the platform down
Sorry to hear that, I hope they can sort that out, maybe trademark flexi-jobs.uk helps.
