Roast my idea - LegalTech
At work, asked to implement an easy way for customers to get a DPA without the support/onboarding teams having to do anything manual. I looked for solutions to this online as in my head this was a no brainer thing, I have a pdf with these fields, give me a link I can send so customers can fill it out easily. None really existed except for complicated contract software.
So I had this idea for a self service data processing agreement signing platform where when a customer asks for a DPA you can just send them a link and they can fill it out and sign it without any manuel work done on the part of the data processer.
This could be done with other services that are meant for contract signing but the problem with them are that the are very expensive most of the time and that they don't have the self service part. And the thing is that DPA's by GDPR law are basically as prevalent as cookie consents so I really think there is a opportunity to make it smooth and easy to sign.
Please roast my idea.
Is this even feasible for a solo maker to get into legal software?

Who are you targeting for this? Many businesses don't care about GDPR and will skip all of this regulatory nonsense.
I imagine some enterprise companies with EU clients would care, but then you'd have to be willing to do enterprise sales. If that's something you want to do, then sure it's feasible for a solo maker.
Have you talked to any such companies and do they consider this to be a real problem?
Definitely small-medium SaaS/consultancies based in the EU. You can't really "skip all of this regulatory nonsense" if you have customers asking for DPA's.
But yeah more of "brand trust" problem than a product problem type of business
As founder of a Legal Tech community (over 5000 legal experts) I would say - try to see if there's interest for this first with a handful of companies. The Legal Tech space is one of the most difficult markets to sell into, but if you get it right - it's all worth it. Building authority, trust and a brand in this space is a big must.
